In accordance with the UAE labour laws and under the guidance of our Parish Priest and Spiritual Director, the Samaritans Ministry; also known as the social arm of the parish, aims at giving a helping hand to the needy; irrespective of religion or nationality. Founded in 2011, this ministry has always aimed at encouraging the “haves” to help the “have nots”.
With a united vision of reaching out and serving as many needy as possible, the Samaritans Ministry comprises of different branches:
Legal – A team of lawyers work hand in hand with trained paralegal volunteers to provide free legal aid to the needy which ranges from negotiations and consultations with banks, medical institutes and charitable institutes, contacting police stations, labour department, court, prisons and embassies for details of necessary cases.
Prison Ministry – This team aims at serving with compassion and giving spiritual nourishment to those in prison. It involves visits to the prison in accordance with the law, intercessory prayers and holy adoration to intercede for the needs of the prisoners.
Poor of St Anthony – The reach out work is based on humanitarian principles, guided by neutrality and impartiality. It aims at bringing communities together to accept, understand and support the vulnerable segments of the society so that they can have a better future. It also involves joining hands with the government and authorities in the field of humanitarian work for the benefit of the needy.
Training – This team aims at identifying courses that would be most beneficial to the needy and reaching out to professional training institutes and trainers to conduct these courses. It also includes facilitating the organization of these courses and providing them at marginal rates to the needy as compared to the normal rates provided by training institutes.
Employment Opportunities – The main aim of this team is to provide job seekers with potential and valid job opportunities provided by employers as per the provided job specifications.
Hospital Ministry – A 24x7 available professional and trained medical team aims at tending to medical emergencies in the church and providing medical services as needed. This team also organizes and facilitates medical camps, free check-ups and blood donation campaigns in collaboration with the other ministries of the parish.
Labour Ministry – The team aims at serving the needy labourers spread across in the different labour camps in Dubai. Upon obtaining the required permissions, this team conducts visits to the labour camps, organizes sports and fulfilled activities and provides them with basic provisions as received via donations.
Events – In association with the Dubai government, this team organizes free fulfilled /charity events for the less privileged /generally neglected segments of society such as blue collared workers, nannies, cancer patients etc.
